Hillels Across North America Mark Three Years Since October 7th
Thousands of Jewish students at Hillels across North America marked three years since the October 7th attacks with vigils, exhibitions, art projects, speakers, and opportunities for reflection. At Hillel of Buffalo, students participated in a remembrance gathering and heard from Nova Festival survivor Atir Vinnikov, while University at Albany Hillel created a “Wings of Hope” art installation honoring those killed at Kfar Aza. Other Hillels, including University of Chicago, Penn State, and SLO Hillel, hosted campus-wide programs that shared the stories of those affected by October 7th and created space for students to find support and comfort.

Missouri lawmakers passed legislation that requires the state’s K-12 schools, colleges, and universities to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s framework definition of antisemitism and include clear rules against antisemitic harassment in their conduct codes. Supporters say the measure protects Jewish students and responds to an ongoing trend of rising incidents.
Ohio State Hillel and Local Partners Host Holocaust Survivors
Ohio State University Hillel and Columbus Jewish Family Services partnered to host a luncheon connecting students with Holocaust survivors following a powerful trip students took to Poland with Hillel. Organizers brought students together with survivors to hear testimony and strengthen generational ties within the Jewish community. The program focused on memory, education, and ongoing student engagement with survivors in the Columbus area.

Throughout four years of war in Ukraine, Hillel continues to provide Jewish students with Shabbat gatherings, support programs, and safe community spaces. Alyona Kolpina, director of Dnipro Hillel, said, “Being together in community has helped many students process their grief and feel that they’re not carrying it alone.”
Hillel JUC Students Head to Israel for New Campus Ambassadors Program
Hillel Jewish University Center of Pittsburgh (JUC) and the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh announced a new campus ambassadors program that will take 10 University of Pittsburgh students to Israel to learn skills to become campus peer educators. Organizers say the trip and pre-departure workshops will equip students with knowledge, skills, and confidence to speak about Israel and counter antisemitism on their campuses.
Brown-RISD Hillel Offers Increased Support After 2025 Campus Shooting
Brown-RISD Hillel expanded its programming following the December 2025 mass shooting at Brown University to provide Jewish students with support and community. Rabbi Josh Bolton, Brown University’s interim associate chaplain and executive director of Brown-RISD Hillel, said that Jewish campus leaders knew they needed to “create opportunities for reflection and mourning,” as well as spaces for “joy and celebration.”
