CU Boulder Hillel Supports Jewish Boulder Community After Antisemitic Attack

Elyana Funk, executive director of University of Colorado Boulder Hillel who frequently participates in the ‘Run for Their Lives’ weekly march, expressed deep concern over the recent firebombing attack on a peaceful pro-Israel demonstration in Boulder, calling it “particularly alarming.” The assault, which injured at least 15 individuals, including an 88-year-old Holocaust survivor, has intensified fears within the Jewish community about escalating antisemitic violence.

Cal Poly Humboldt Under Federal Investigation for Alleged Campus Antisemitism

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights opened a Title VI investigation into Cal Poly Humboldt following allegations of antisemitic harassment on campus. The complaint cites incidents where Jewish students were subjected to verbal and physical abuse, including being doused with fake blood, targeted with antisemitic slurs, and told to hide their identities. University officials reportedly advised Jewish students to leave public spaces rather than addressing the harassment. Cal Poly Humboldt stated it is reviewing the complaint and will fully cooperate with the investigation.

Two Israeli Embassy Staffers Shot and Killed Outside Washington, D.C.’s Capital Jewish Museum in Suspected Hate Crime

Two Israeli embassy staff members, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, were fatally shot outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. late Wednesday night. Lischinsky and Milgrim had been attending an event hosted by the American Jewish Committee for young Jewish diplomats.  Authorities report that the suspect shouted “Free Palestine” while in custody. The FBI is investigating the incident as a possible hate crime and act of terrorism.

Columbia Student Says She Was Removed from Newspaper Role Because She Was Jewish

Eliana Goldin, a Jewish student and Hillel leader at Columbia University, was removed from her columnist role at the Columbia Daily Spectator after critics circulated an old Instagram poll she said was taken out of context. The poll referenced a biblical passage and was misinterpreted as a call for violence. Goldin called her removal from the newspaper, “The worst antisemitic attack I faced personally on campus,” while the paper’s leadership claimed it acted to protect her from harassment.
