Clemson University’s first professionally staffed Hillel will open this fall, expanding Jewish programming, support, and leadership opportunities for its growing community of Jewish students. Jewish student participation at Clemson has increased fivefold in recent years, with an estimated 500 Jewish undergraduates now on campus. “Clemson’s growing Jewish student community deserves a professionally staffed Hillel that can provide Jewish students their fuller opportunities for Jewish joy, pride, and leadership,” said Hillel International President and CEO Adam Lehman.

Stanford University students pitched startup ideas focused on social and environmental impact as part of a Hillel-sponsored entrepreneurship competition with a $30,000 prize. The contest invited undergraduates to submit business plans aligned with the Jewish value of tikkun olam, or repairing the world. The winning project used artificial intelligence to help identify wildfire risks, highlighting the competition’s focus on innovation and real-world impact.
Columbia University Reaches Settlement in Antisemitism Lawsuit
Columbia University reached a settlement in a lawsuit filed by Jewish students who alleged the school failed to address rising antisemitism on campus. The complaint claimed, in part, that the university did not adequately protect Jewish and Israeli students as incidents escalated in the aftermath of the October 7 terror attacks. As a result of the settlement, Columbia committed to expanding antisemitism-related programming, creating new Israel-related scholarships, and considering adopting the IHRA definition of antisemitism.
Students from North Carolina Universities Gather at Black-Jewish Unity Dinner
The Black-Jewish Unity Dinner Series, hosted in partnership with Hillel International, Blue Square Alliance Against Hate, and UNCF, brought students from North Carolina colleges together for a gathering aimed at creating dialogue and confronting antisemitism and racism on campus. Over a shared meal, Black, Jewish, and Black and Jewish students discussed their identities and experiences, built relationships, and explored ways to address hate.
Grinspoon Hillel at Cornell Begins Construction on New Jewish Student Center
Grinspoon Hillel at Cornell broke ground on a new, state-of the -art Jewish student center, Harkavy Hall, which will serve as a hub for Jewish life on campus. The 24,000-square-foot building will include a Beit Midrash for Torah study, a kosher café, event space for Shabbat dinners, and areas for community gatherings.
Speaker at NYC Public College Event Raises Antisemitism Concerns
A recent event at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, hosted by the college’s Muslim Student Association, featured a speaker who has shared posts online promoting antisemitic conspiracy theories. Sheikh Abdelrahman Badawy circulated videos and posts in the past several weeks containing anti-Jewish conspiracies and mocking the Holocaust.
